| NAAF’s Ascot Fund Status | |
| Unfortunately, the National Alopecia Areata Foundation will temporarily be unable to distribute or accept any Ascot Fund Applications effective July 7, 2008. Due to the popularity of the Ascot Fund program, NAAF no longer has the funds available to provide financial assistance in the purchasing of a hair prosthesis. We have succeeded in assisting over 225 individuals purchase hair prostheses since 2004, but funds have simply run out. Until we receive more money from our loyal donor base directed to this popular program, we have no choice but to put the program on hold. Applications for the Ascot Fund will no longer be distributed effective July 7, 2008. If you received an application prior to July 7th, NAAF will try to consider your request with our last available funds, however, no guarantees can be made. All potential applicants are encouraged to check back with NAAF beginning on October 1, 2008 to receive a new Ascot Fund Application (in a new format with revised requirements). There will be no waiting list or any special considerations made. We understand that there are many individuals in need of this program and we truly apologize for not being able to consider those needs at this time. Effective October 1, 2008: * Individuals must be diagnosed with ALOPECIA AREATA to apply. Applications showing a diagnosis of lupus, androgenic alopecia, cicitricial alopecia or hair loss due to chemotherapy will be denied. * NAAF will only accept applications in the new format which can be obtained beginning October 1, 2008. Applications in the old format will be denied. * Only actual applicants are allowed to contact NAAF for an application (no vendors or doctors offices). Completed applications must be submitted by the applicant (or the applicant's legal guardian) directly to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation. * Copies of applications are not to be distributed to wig vendors or doctors offices. If you have received an application from anyone but a NAAF staff member, it is an unauthorized copy, and your application will be denied. * After an application is completed and received with all attachments by the NAAF staff, there is at least a 60 day review process. Applicants should not contact the NAAF office for status of their application until 60 days after all pieces of the final application have been received. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. |
